Kitty Bandaids

Welcome to our world of (Hello) Kitty bandaids. In a moment of weakness, I bought a box of these bandaids at Meijer one fine day. I thought: "When my daughter has a bloody knee sometime, this bandaid might make her feel a little better." What I didn't realize was that Kitty bandaids would actually become more of a fashion statement.

It is not uncommon for Kennedy to find the Kitty bandaids after Molly or I have tried to hide them in a secret spot. It is also very normal for her to wear these bandaids for several days at a time (apparently bath time does not affect the sticky-ness factor).

After the month of Kitty bandaids, we are down to 2 final bandaids. So what did I do today? In another moment of weakness, I bought another box to replace the first. Why did I pay more than twice the amount that a person would pay for bandaids? Lack of intelligence? I'm a sucker? Moment of weakness? To guess, it is probably a combination of all 3 options. But mostly... it's fun and silly... and did I mention I'm a sucker?

The video below offers a quick insight into the world of Kitty bandaids. Enjoy.

Dinner Time

Why is it so much fun to take pictures of babies getting messy? Ansley is a very messy eater, and each meal becomes an adventure (she like to suck her thumb after every bite of food, make "scrunched up" faces at us, wipe peas on her forehead, and grab her bowl of food when we aren't watching).

I digress.... enjoy the following pictures, which are an inside look at meal time.

Sisters

Today is a single picture post.

I have been experimenting with a digital photography program you can use to do lots of cool things like change the white balance, flash settings, and many more features that I do not fully understand. While it's fun to experiment with photo editing, you can spend LOTS of time on this activity.

Those details aside, I love this picture because it demonstrates the friendship between sisters. This is a special bond and it is amazing how early this begins. I am outnumbered by the females in my household by a count of 3-1, but I'm okay with this. Daughters are a very special gift from God, and Molly and I are at a loss for words for who much fun it is (of course, I'm not counting all of the "terrible two" meltdowns, poop "nightmares", total lack of sleep, and the mini-fortune we have spent on diapers, formula, and glittery lip gloss).

It's ALL worth it...

Lucas Oil Stadium: First Game

In a ground breaking moment on the Applegate blog, I am not including pictures of Kennedy or Ansley. This may be shocking to many of you, so take a moment to collect yourselves.

Last night I attended the innagural (spelling?) football game at Lucas Oil Stadium. Fishers H.S. (where I work) pummelled Noblesville H.S. (where I pay my taxes), 31 - 10. Besides the excitment of watching Fishers win the 1st game at Lucas (The Luc), win it's first opening game ever, and beat Noblesville for the 1st time, the stadium itself was the main attraction.

Words cannot describe the new stadium, but here are a few choice words: monstrous, enormous, architectural marvel, breath taking. Pictures do not do justice to the experience of being in this building. After a taking a 4 - 5 story free-standing escalator ride up to the top level (with no safety barriers on either side.... I'm curious how soon it will be before a drunk fan falls off), I felt like I was on the top of a tall building looking over the edge of the escalator. A few people around me mentioned their fear of heights.

All descriptions aside, it was a fun night to watch some football and hang out with a couple of good friends from work.

A picture of me in front of the "Lucas Oil Experience."

A nice view of the field from the north end of the upper deck .

Hello banners. These AFC banners are nice and dandy, but it would be nice to see another white Super Bowl banner after this year. Also, question... what happens to these banners when the roof opens?

Got Milk?

In an effort to capture the moment (and most likely embarass my daughter when she is old enough to understand that these pictures are embarassing), I took the following pictures after she told me she "needed to pump."

[Editor's note: Picture #3 is NOT what you think it might be... see picture #4 for a better explanation.]

Buddies

This past weekend, Molly and Kennedy were visiting Katie and Josh in Chicago with Molly's family (pictures to come... hopefully).

That being said, Ansley and I got to spend time together in Noblesville. Between renting action movies, eating pizza, and not showering (just kidding), we got to hang out with our neighbors and good friends Matt and Molly Gang... and their daughter Evelyn (Evie), who was born within a week of Ansley.

After a delicious meal of gumbo and cornbread (I know gumbo is good when I start sweating during the meal), Ansley and Evie played on a blanket. Between Ansley grabbing Evie's eyeballs (see below) and rolling around the living room, the girls had a great time together. Before long, they will be playing outside in the pink house, watching Disney movies, and getting popsicles from our freezer. Fun times ahead.

"What are YOU looking at?!?" :)

"Hello over there."

Ansley reaches for Evie's cornea.

Aunt Cassie Photo Shoot

Of all the blessings in our lives (and right below our faith in God), our family is at the top of the list.

So... on an ordinary day, this concept is captured in a few pictures of Aunt Cassie and the girls. It's awesome to be part of such a great family and to see this family continue to grow.

Laughing is fun.

Blogging Material Needed

After spending the last 15 minutes writing a blog update, I accidentally shut it down before it loaded. I will now write a quick analysis of this blog post: Grandmother + grandchild = chocolate at bedtime. Result: good times

My other main point (that I deleted), is that I need to work on some good blogging material... I promise to improve my efforts in the near future and make this a more important priority that watching my children or paying bills.

Also, does anybody else like Kennedy's goatee below?
